🧩 PP+TPE – Polypropylene with Thermoplastic Elastomer

(A flexible composite material combining the structural strength of PP with the elasticity of rubber. The result is a semi-soft, impact-resistant material ideal for automotive protections and “soft-touch” components.)

🔹 What is PP+TPE

PP+TPE is a high-performance engineering blend. At ReplastMD, we treat it as the ultimate solution for vibration damping. By mixing PP (which provides chemical inertness) with TPE (SBS, SEBS, or TPV), the material remains malleable and shock-resistant without losing its dimensional stability. It is perfect for flexible joints between rigid parts and interior elements that require a premium, soft feel.

🔧 Composition & Properties

  • Polymer Base: Polypropylene (PP) ~60–80%.
  • Elastomer: Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE/SEBS) ~20–40%.
  • Density: ~ 0.95 – 1.05 г/см³.
  • Processing Temp: 220 – 250 °C.
  • Visuals: Semi-soft, slightly rubbery, low gloss; grey, black, or anthracite.

🔧 Welding and Bonding Methods

MethodOptimal TempObservations
Hot Air220 – 250 °CClean weld, no carbonization
Heat Plate (Mirror)RecommendedHomogeneous bonding for rigid/flexible areas
Chemical Bonding⚠️ RestrictedPossible only with PP primers (Loctite® 770 + 406)

💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Weld at ~240 °C with controlled hot air. It is ideal for flexible repairs or transition zones between PP and rubber, offering a balance of durability and aesthetic appeal.
