🧩 PP-TPO-TD20 – Polypropylene + TPO + Talc 20%
(Technical elastic-rigid olefinic material composed of Polypropylene (PP), TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin), and 20% talc (TD20))
🔹 What is PP-TPO-TD20
PP-TPO-TD20 is a reinforced olefinic compound where PP provides rigidity, TPO provides flexibility and impact resistance, and talc (20%) brings dimensional stability and hardness.
It is very common in the automotive industry, being the perfect balance between a rigid material (PP-TD20) and an elastic one (pure TPO). It is used for bumpers, diffusers, engine shields, covers, and exterior protections due to the optimal combination of mechanical strength, elasticity, and thermal stability.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Proportion | Role |
| Polypropylene (PP) | 55–60 % | Structural matrix, dimensional stability |
| TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) | 20–25 % | Elasticity, impact and vibration resistance |
| Talc (TD20) | 20 % | Stiffening, thermal stability, and wear resistance |
| Additives | < 5 % | UV protection and outdoor durability |
🚗 Automotive Applications
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Bumpers and Diffusers | Corners, extensions, grilles, sensor covers | Semi-flexible, matte |
| Engine Shields | Under-panels, protective covers | Impact and temperature resistant |
| Wheel Arches | Fender liners, side housings | Thermally and mechanically stable |
| Exterior Trims | Sill covers, side decorations | Uniform appearance, non-glossy |
🔩 Welding Compatibility
| Mating Material | Compatibility | Observations |
| PP-TPO, PP-EPDM, TEO, TPO-TD20 | ✅ Excellent | Excellent welding – common structure |
| Plain PP, TD20, TX20 | ⚠️ Fair | Partially compatible, but possible |
| TPE-O, TPE-V | ⚠️ Limited | Partially weldable (compressibility difference) |
| PA, PC, ABS, PET, PVC | ❌ Incompatible | Chemically and thermally incompatible |

🛠️ PP-TPO-TD20 Welding at ReplastMD
| Method | Temperature | Observations |
| Hot Air | 230 – 250 °C | Recommended – TPO / PP-EPDM rod |
| Heat plate (Mirror) | 220 – 240 °C | Clean bonding, no shrinkage |
| Extrusion | 230 – 250 °C | For thick or technical joints |
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: use TPO or PP-EPDM welding rods, clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol, and maintain a constant flow of hot air.
