🧩 PP-EPDM-TD20 – Polypropylene + EPDM + Talc 20%
(Reinforced elastic olefinic material composed of Polypropylene (PP), EPDM rubber, and 20% talc (TD20))
🔹 What is PP-EPDM-TD20
PP-EPDM-TD20 belongs to the family of mineral-filled elastic olefinic materials, where EPDM provides flexibility and shock absorption, while talc (20%) increases rigidity and thermally stabilizes the part.
It is one of the most widespread materials in the automotive industry, especially for bumpers, diffusers, lower casings, and exterior protections where controlled elasticity, impact resistance, and thermal stability are required. It is considered a balanced material between PP-TD20 (rigid) and PP-EPDM-T10 (soft), maintaining a technical matte texture and high resistance to aging and UV. Similar markings include PP-EPDM-T15, T20, TD25, and TX20.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Proportion | Role |
| Polypropylene (PP) | 55–60 % | Structural matrix, dimensional stability |
| EPDM rubber | 20–25 % | Elasticity, impact and vibration resistance |
| Talc (TD20) | 20 % | Stiffening, thermal stabilization |
| Additives | < 5 % | UV protection and matte finishing |
🚗 Automotive Applications
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Bumpers / Corners / Diffusers | Lower corners, sill extensions | Semi-flexible, UV resistant |
| Shields / Mudguards | Under-engine protections | Rigid-elastic, lightweight |
| Technical Panels / Exterior Casings | Covers, sensor mounts | Matte texture, thermally stable |
| OEM Applications | BMW, Renault, Dacia, VW | Common “TD20 / TD25” codes |
🔩 Welding Compatibility
| Mating Material | Compatibility | Observations |
| PP-EPDM, TPO, TEO, TPE-O | ✅ Excellent | Excellent welding – common family |
| Plain PP, TD20, TX20 | ⚠️ Fair | Partially compatible (elasticity difference) |
| TPE-V, TPE-S | ⚠️ Limited | Partially weldable |
| PA, PC, ABS, PET, PVC | ❌ Incompatible | Chemically and thermally incompatible |

🛠️ PP-EPDM-TD20 Welding at ReplastMD
| Method | Temperature | Observations |
| Hot Air | 230 – 250 °C | Recommended – PP-EPDM / TPO rod |
| Heat plate (Mirror) | 220 – 240 °C | Clean bonding, uniform joint |
| Extrusion | 230 – 250 °C | For deep cracks or corners |
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: use PP-EPDM or TPO welding rods, clean with isopropyl alcohol, and ensure constant control of the hot air flow.
