🧩 PP-EPDM-TD15-I – Polypropylene + EPDM + Dense Talc 15%
(Modified thermoplastic-elastomeric material composed of Polypropylene (PP), EPDM rubber, and 15% dense talc (TD15))
🔹 What is PP-EPDM-TD15-I
PP-EPDM-TD15-I is part of the rubber-modified thermoplastic olefin family.
It is a hybrid rigid-elastic material, resulting from a PP matrix combined with EPDM for flexibility and dense talc for stiffening and dimensional stability. The “I” version indicates an internal industrial Injection Grade formula with controlled viscosity. This blend is used extensively in the automotive industry — particularly for exterior body parts and lower protections — for its optimal balance of weight, rigidity, and impact resistance.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Proportion | Role |
| PP (Polypropylene) | 55–65 % | Rigid structural matrix |
| EPDM rubber | 20–25 % | Elasticity and shock absorption |
| Dense Talc (TD15) | 15 % | Increases rigidity and thermal stability |
| Additives | < 5 % | Protection and processability |
🚗 Automotive Applications
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Bumpers and spoilers | Corners, diffusers, extensions | Semi-rigid material, matte |
| Wheel Arches | Fender liners, side shields | Vibration damping, cold flexible |
| Casings and Covers | Sill covers, engine guards | Thermally stable, partially paintable |
| BMW / Renault / VW parts | Codes T15, TD15, I | Common use in exterior protections |
🔩 Welding Compatibility
| Mating Material | Compatibility | Observations |
| PP-EPDM, PP-TDxx, TPO, TEO | ✅ Excellent | Easy to weld – same family |
| Plain PP, PP-MD20 | ⚠️ Fair | Partially weldable (density difference) |
| TPE-O, TPE-V | ⚠️ Limited | Requires temperature precision |
| PA, PC, PVC, ABS, PET | ❌ Incompatible | Thermally and chemically incompatible |

🛠️ PP-EPDM-TD15-I Welding at ReplastMD
| Method | Temperature | Observations |
| Hot Air | 230 – 250 °C | Recommended – PP-EPDM or TPO rod |
| Heat plate (Mirror) | 220 – 240 °C | Clean bonding, pore-free |
| Extrusion | 230 – 250 °C | Thick zones, structural joints |
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: use PP-EPDM or TPO welding rods, maintain constant pressure and uniform hot air flow.
