🧩 PP-EPDM-M20 – Polypropylene + EPDM + Modified Mineral 20%
(Advanced technical generation olefinic composite material composed of Polypropylene (PP), EPDM, and 20% chemically modified mineral filler (M20))
🔹 What is PP-EPDM-M20
PP-EPDM-M20 is an advanced variant of PP-EPDM compounds with chemically treated mineral additions (usually silanized calcite or talc).
By modifying the mineral’s surface, the material gains better internal adhesion, increased UV stability, and a superior aesthetic appearance — ideal for visible and flexible parts. Frequently found in BMW, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, and Dacia vehicles under M20, M25, or M30 markings. It serves as a balance between the TV20 and TVX20 series.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Proportion | Role |
| PP (Polypropylene) | 55–60 % | Rigid matrix, dimensional stability |
| EPDM rubber | 20–25 % | Elasticity, shock resistance |
| Mod. Mineral (M20) | 20 % | Stiffening and thermal stabilization |
| Additives | < 5 % | Protection, finishing, and processability |
🚗 Automotive Applications
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Bumpers and Corners | Diffusers, sill protectors, extensions | Semi-flexible, UV stable |
| Engine Covers | Technical covers and panels | Rigid-elastic, lightweight |
| Wheel Arches | Fender liners, shields | Vibration absorption, mech. strength |
| OEM Applications | “M20 / M25 / M30” codes | Used in injected exterior parts |
🔩 Welding Compatibility
| Mating Material | Compatibility | Observations |
| PP-EPDM, MD20, TV20, TPO | ✅ Excellent | Excellent welding – common family |
| Plain PP, TD20, M30 | ⚠️ Fair | Partially compatible |
| TPE-O, TPE-V | ⚠️ Limited | Limited weldability |
| PA, PC, ABS, PET, PVC | ❌ Incompatible | Thermally and chemically incompatible |

🛠️ PP-EPDM-M20 Welding at ReplastMD
| Method | Temperature | Observations |
| Hot Air | 230 – 250 °C | Ideal – PP-EPDM / TPO rod |
| Heat plate (Mirror) | 220 – 240 °C | Clean joint, no shrinkage |
| Extrusion | 230 – 250 °C | Recommended for thick parts |
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: use PP-EPDM or TPO welding rods, clean with isopropyl alcohol, maintain constant hot air flow and controlled pressure.
