🔹 What is POM+PA

POM+PA is a compatibilized alloy of two materials with complementary properties. POM provides hardness and a low friction coefficient, while PA (Nylon) adds impact resistance and heat stability. It is a self-lubricating material, thermally stable up to 130 °C, making it perfect for gears, guides, and structural components that require both precision and toughness.

🔧 Composition & Properties

  • Base: 50–70% POM, 30–50% PA6/PA66.
  • Density: 1.30–1.40 g/cm³.
  • Melting Point: ≈ 200–220 °C.
  • Chemical Resistance: Excellent (oils, fuels, solvents).
  • Continuous Heat Resistance: 110–130 °C.

🔩 Material Compatibility

  • Compatible: POM, POM-C, POM-H, PA6, PA66, PA+GF, POM+PBT.
  • ⚠️ Good Compatibility: PA+MD, PA+PPS, PA+PBT.
  • Incompatible: PP, PE, PVC, PS, ABS, PC (completely different melting points).

💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Use POM+PA or POM-C / PA66 rods at 250 °C. Clean the surface thoroughly; any oil residue will compromise adhesion. Maintain constant pressure during welding for a dense, high-quality joint.

🧠 How to Identify POM+PA

  • Engraved marking: >POM+PA<, >POM/PA<, >Hostaform<, >Ultraform<.
  • Texture: Semi-glossy, rigid, and dense.
  • ReplastMD practical test: Burns with a blue flame, releasing a combined scent of formaldehyde and burnt hair (nylon). Softens at ≈ 210 °C.
