🔹 What is PLA
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a bio-aliphatic polyester. At ReplastMD, we treat it as a high-aesthetic material known for its high stiffness and pronounced gloss. Its main limitation is heat resistance (~60 °C), and it can be brittle under impact. However, it is 100% bio-based and offers a clean, neutral scent during processing. It is the go-to resin for sustainable decorative inserts and rapid prototyping.

- Density: 1.23 – 1.26 g/cm³.

🔧 Welding Temperature and Methods

💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: PLA can be welded at 120 °C with hot air, but it is sensitive to thermal stress. For aesthetic parts, bio-based epoxy or two-component bonding is often preferred to maintain the premium finish.
🧠 How to Identify PLA
- Glossy, rigid, smooth surface.
- Color: Milky white, transparent, or translucent colored.
- ReplastMD practical test: Rigid and slightly brittle when bent; softens quickly at 60–70 °C. Emits a sweet, popcorn-like scent when heated.
