🔹 What is PEEK+BIO

PEEK+BIO is a hybrid composite where the PEEK matrix is reinforced with natural fibers or bio-based polymers (PEEK-Lignin, PEEK-Flax). The goal is to reduce weight (by 10–15%) and ecological impact without compromising mechanical or thermal performance. It offers high rigidity, continuous operating temperatures up to 250 °C, and a natural, organic finish.

  • Base: 60–80% PEEK.
  • Bio-based fibers: 20–40% (flax, hemp, cellulose, lignin).
  • Density: 1.20–1.28 g/cm³.
  • Melting Point: ≈ 330–340 °C.

  • ⚠️ Good Compatibility: PPA, PEEK+PA.
  • Incompatible: PP, PE, PS, ABS, PC, PET (completely different melting points).

💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Use pure PEEK rods at 370 °C. Uniform heating is crucial to avoid burning the bio-fibers. Slow cooling ensures a homogeneous finish without porosity.

🧠 How to Identify PEEK+BIO

  • Engraved marking: >PEEK+BIO<, >BIOPEEK<, >VESTAKEEP ECO<.
  • Texture: Matte, naturally textured, light beige to organic brown.
  • ReplastMD practical test: Lighter than standard PEEK; has a faint woody scent when melted. Does not deform at 250 °C.
