🧩 PC+PBT+GF30 – Polycarbonate + PBT 30% Glass Fiber

(High-performance technical composite material, made of a blend of Polycarbonate (PC) and Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), reinforced with 30% glass fiber (GF30). Used in automotive components exposed to high temperatures, mechanical stress, and vibrations.)

🔹 What is PC+PBT+GF30

PC+PBT+GF30 combines the advantages of both polymer bases:

  • Polycarbonate (PC) offers toughness and impact resistance,
  • PBT brings thermal stability and chemical resistance,
  • Glass Fiber (GF30) increases rigidity and resistance to deformation.

It is used in car parts where ABS or PC+ABS lacks thermal resistance, but pure PBT would be too brittle.

🔩 What to Weld with (Material Compatibility)

  • PC+PBT, Xenoy®, Valox® ✅ — Weldable (with precise temperature control).
  • PC+ABS, PBT+GF30 ⚠️ — Partially compatible (PC+PBT rod recommended).
  • PBT, PC, PC+GF30 ⚠️ — Partially compatible (different melting points).
  • PP, PE, PA, PVC, PET ❌ — Chemically and thermally incompatible.

🏭 Manufacturers and Trade Names

  • SABIC: Xenoy® GF30 / Xenoy® HTX
  • DuPont: Crastin® PC/PBT GF30
  • BASF: Ultradur® B4520 GF30 (PC/PBT blend)

🧠 How to Identify

  • Marking: >PC+PBT+GF30<, >Xenoy-GF30<, >Valox-GF30<.
  • Texture: Fine, dense, with visible fibers on broken edges.
  • Density: ~1.38–1.45 g/cm³
  • ReplastMD practical test: Clean flame, self-extinguishes, faint aromatic (PC) scent. Rigid surface, very thermally stable, sharp edges when broken.

🛠️ Welding at ReplastMD:

  • Heat Plate (Mirror): 250 – 270 °C (Precise, slow, uniform welding).
  • Ultrasonic / Vibration: ✅ Recommended (Ideal for rigid housings).

💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Welding is performed with controlled hot air or ultrasonic methods, using PC+PBT (Xenoy®) rods. Avoid overheating — PBT degrades easily under excessive heat.
