🔹 What is PC/ABS – Cycoloy®
Cycoloy® is the commercial name for the PC+ABS blend developed by SABIC.
This material combines the mechanical and thermal strength of polycarbonate (PC) with the processability, glossy finish, and elasticity of ABS. Cycoloy® is available in numerous technical grades — standard, flame retardant, reinforced, and UV-stabilized — tailored for structural, decorative, or electrical use.
🔧 Composition
- Polycarbonate (PC): 50–70 %
- ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene): 30–50 %
- Thermal / UV / Flame Retardant Additives: 1–5 %
- Density: 1.10–1.15 g/cm³
- Melting Point: ≈ 230–250 °C
- Continuous Heat Resistance: Up to 110–120 °C.

🔩 What to Weld PC/ABS With (Material Compatibility)
Cycoloy® has excellent compatibility with most styrenic and polycarbonate blends.
✅ Compatible with:
- PC/ABS ↔ PC / ABS / ASA / PC+ASA / PC+PBT – ideal.
- PC/ABS ↔ SAN / ABS+PMMA / ABS+ASA – good bond.
❌ Incompatible with:
- PP, PE, PA, PVC, PS, TPO – completely different melting points.
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation:
Use PC+ABS rods or original Cycoloy® rods at 255–270 °C. Heating must be uniform without overheating the glossy layer. For decorative parts, gloss can be restored with a quick pass of hot air or acrylic polish.

- Engraved marking: >PC+ABS<, >Cycoloy<, >SABIC<, >ABS/PC<.
- Glossy, dense, rigid surface.
- Softens at ≈ 250 °C without bubbling.
- Yellow-blue flame, styrenic odor.
- ReplastMD practical test: if the part is rigid, glossy, and marked >Cycoloy<, it is a confirmed SABIC material.
