🧩 PA+PEEK – Polyamide + PolyEther-Ether-Ketone
(Ultra-high performance material obtained by combining polyamide (PA66/PA6T) with PEEK. This blend offers thermal resistance up to 240 °C, extreme rigidity, and exceptional wear resistance, intended for engine, transmission, and high-precision industrial parts.)
🔹 What is PA+PEEK
PA+PEEK is a premium-grade thermoplastic blend designed for critical applications where standard materials (ABS, PC, PA66) fail. PEEK provides remarkable chemical and thermal stability, while PA contributes adhesion, elasticity, and optimized cost. It is a semi-crystalline, self-lubricating material that sustains continuous temperatures of 200 °C without losing mechanical properties.
🔧 Composition & Properties
- Base: 50–70% PEEK, 30–50% Polyamide (PA66/6T).
- Reinforcement: 10–40% Glass or Carbon fiber.
- Melting Point: ≈ 310 °C.
- Chemical Resistance: Exceptional (oils, fuels, acids, solvents).
- Continuous Heat Resistance: 200–240 °C.
🚗 Where PA+PEEK is used in the automotive industry
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Engine / Transmission | Gears, spacers, guides | Oil, heat, and vibration resistance |
| Friction / Motion | Bearings, bushings, rollers | Self-lubricating, high hardness |
| EGR / Turbo Systems | Housings and ducts | Resists 240 °C continuously |
| Technical Connectors | Precision sensors | Superior thermal/chemical insulation |
🔧 Welding Temperature and Methods
| Method | Optimal Temp | Observations |
| Hot Air | 300 – 340 °C | Slow melting, requires fine control |
| Plastic Extrusion | 300 – 320 °C | Ideal for thick technical parts |
| Heat Plate (Mirror) | 300 – 320 °C | Solid bonding without oxidation |
🔩 Material Compatibility
- ✅ Compatible: PEEK, PPA, PA6T, PA66, PPS, PEEK+GF/CF.
- ⚠️ Partially Compatible: PA+PEI, PPA+GF.
- ❌ Incompatible: PP, PE, PVC, ABS, PET (completely different melting points).
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Use PEEK or PA+PEEK rods at 310–320 °C. The part must be gradually preheated to prevent internal stress, and controlled slow cooling is mandatory to avoid micro-cracks.
🧠 How to Identify PA+PEEK
- Engraved marking: >PA+PEEK<, >PEEK<, >Vestakeep<, >Victrex<.
- Texture: Matte, extremely hard, dark brown or grey-brown color.
- ReplastMD practical test: If the part is heavy, rigid, and has a PEEK-based marking, it is confirmed. It softens only at temperatures above 300 °C.
