🧩 PA6T-MX GPA – High-Temperature Aromatic Polyamide
(High-performance aromatic polyamide derived from PA6T modified with m-xylylenediamine (MXDA). It offers exceptional mechanical and dimensional strength at elevated temperatures above 180 °C.)
🔹 What is PA6T-MX GPA
PA6T-MX GPA is part of the semi-crystalline aromatic polyamide family, recognized for its superior rigidity and dimensional stability compared to PA66 or PA6-MXD6. Due to its aromatic structure, moisture absorption is minimal, and mechanical properties remain stable even in humid environments or under extreme thermal variations. It is primarily used for components near heat sources: manifolds, sensor covers, and mechatronic parts.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Ratio | Role |
| PA 6T + MXDA Matrix | ≈ 70 % | Heat and chemical resistant aromatic matrix |
| Glass Fiber (E-Glass) | ≈ 30 % | Mechanical and dimensional reinforcement |
| Additives | < 3 % | Oxidation protection and flow improvement |
🚗 Where PA6T-MX GPA is used in the automotive industry
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Sensor Covers / EGR | Toyota, BMW, Renault | Excellent rigidity at 180 °C+ |
| Fuel Fittings / Conn. | Bosch, Delphi | Hydrocarbon and oil resistance |
| Radiator Components | Mercedes, Peugeot | Thermal tolerance and vibration stability |
| Mechatronics / ABS | Continental, Siemens | High thermal and electrostatic insulation |
🔧 Welding Temperature and Methods
| Method | Optimal Temp | Observations |
| Hot Air | 290 – 310 °C | Requires preheating to avoid cracking |
| Heat Plate (Mirror) | 290 – 300 °C | Ideal – Smooth bonding without voids |
| Plastic Extrusion | 300 °C | Recommended – use PA6T-MX GF rod |
🔩 Material Compatibility
- ✅ Compatible: PA6T-MX, PA6T-MX GF, PA6T, PA46.
- ⚠️ Partially Compatible: PA6, PA66, PPA (melting point difference).
- ❌ Incompatible: PA12, PP, PE, PBT, PVC (thermally incompatible).
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Weld at ~300 °C using PA6T-MX GF rods. Avoid overheating — the aromatic resin becomes brittle above 320 °C.
🧠 How to Identify PA6T-MX GPA
- Engraved marking: >PA6T-MX GPA<, >GRIVORY HT<, >ZYTEL HTN<.
- Texture: Very rigid, matte, with visible glass fibers.
- ReplastMD practical test: Produces a clear, “ceramic-like” sound when tapped; brittle and non-elastic when cut.
