🧩 PA6.6-GF30+PTFE – Polyamide 66 + 30% Glass Fiber + Teflon
(A high-performance technical composite combining the extreme rigidity of 30% glass fiber reinforced Polyamide 66 with the friction-reducing properties of PTFE (Teflon). Designed for moving parts requiring high mechanical strength and self-lubrication.)
🔹 What is PA6.6-GF30+PTFE
PA6.6-GF30+PTFE is a tough, semi-crystalline material engineered for heat, oil, and wear resistance. The 30% glass fiber reinforcement provides structural integrity and prevents warping under load, while the PTFE additive lowers the friction coefficient. It is ideal for high-stress sliding components, guides, and EGR valves where maintenance-free operation is mandatory.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Ratio | Role |
| Polyamide 66 (PA6.6) | ≈ 65 % | Rigid, heat-resistant matrix |
| Glass Fiber (E-Glass) | ≈ 30 % | Mechanical and dimensional reinforcement |
| PTFE (Teflon) | ≈ 5 % | Self-lubrication, reducing friction and noise |
| Additives | < 2 % | Oxidation protection and thermal stability |
🚗 Where PA6.6-GF30+PTFE is used in the automotive industry
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Mounts / Bearings / Guides | VW, Toyota | Self-lubricating with a long lifespan |
| Technical Fittings | Bosch, Valeo | Chemical and pressure resistance |
| EGR / Valve Components | Renault, Ford | Stable at 180–200 °C |
| ABS Friction Elements | Peugeot, Nissan | High mechanical strength, minimum friction |
🔧 Welding Temperature and Methods
| Method | Optimal Temp | Observations |
| Hot Air | 270 – 290 °C | Welds the PA matrix; PTFE does not fuse |
| Heat Plate (Mirror) | 275 – 285 °C | Ideal – precise control without burning PTFE |
| Plastic Extrusion | 280 °C | Recommended – use matching PA66-GF rod |
🔩 Material Compatibility
- ✅ Compatible: PA6.6, PA6.6-GF, PA6.6+PTFE.
- ✅ Thermally Good: PA6, PA66+MD, PA66+FR.
- ❌ Incompatible: PA12, PP, PE, PBT, PVC (chemically and thermally incompatible).
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Weld at ~280 °C using PA66-GF30+PTFE or matching PA66-GF rods. PTFE does not melt but remains embedded to maintain the anti-seize and low-friction effect.
🧠 How to Identify PA6.6-GF30+PTFE
- Engraved marking: > PA66-GF30+PTFE <, > ZYTEL 70G30PTFE <.
- Texture: Very rigid, slightly slippery to the touch.
- ReplastMD practical test: Produces a clear, metallic sound when tapped. Clean edges when cut, with visible glass fibers. Flame: burns slowly with a faint polyamide scent.
