🧩 PA6.6-GF30-MD – Polyamide 66 + 30% Glass Fiber + Mineral
(A technical polyamide 66 reinforced with 30% glass fiber and mineral filler, designed for applications requiring high rigidity, excellent dimensional stability, and superior thermal resistance with a smooth aesthetic finish.)
🔹 What is PA6.6-GF30-MD
PA6.6-GF30-MD combines the strength of glass fibers (GF) with the stability of mineral fillers (MD – talc or silicates). This blend results in increased stiffness and significantly reduced warping after injection or repair. It features a low shrinkage coefficient, making it the preferred choice for large structural components or parts with tight tolerances exposed to thermal shocks and vibrations.
🔧 Composition
| Component | Typical Ratio | Role |
| Polyamide 66 | ≈ 65 % | Rigid and heat-resistant matrix |
| Glass Fiber (GF) | ≈ 30 % | Increases mechanical and thermal strength |
| Mineral Filler (MD) | ≈ 5 % | Reduces shrinkage and improves surface finish |
| Additives | < 2 % | Oxidation and thermal protection |
🚗 Where PA6.6-GF30-MD is used in the automotive industry
| Component | Example parts | Observations |
| Engine Covers | BMW, Renault | Thermal stability up to 180 °C |
| Tech Brackets | Peugeot, Ford | High rigidity, no warping |
| Structural Guides | Toyota, Dacia | Resistance to vibration and abrasion |
| EGR / Pump Parts | Nissan, Opel | Durability under thermal cycles |
🔧 Welding Temperature and Methods
| Method | Optimal Temp | Observations |
| Hot Air | 270 – 290 °C | Weld with controlled melting, avoid overheating |
| Heat Plate (Mirror) | 275 – 285 °C | Ideal – Ensures a smooth, strong mechanical bond |
| Plastic Extrusion | 280 °C | Recommended – use identical or MD equivalent rod |
🔩 Material Compatibility
- ✅ Compatible: PA66, PA6.6-GF, PA6.6-GF30-MD.
- ⚠️ Partially Compatible: PA6, PA6+GF (potential shrinkage difference).
- ❌ Incompatible: PP, PE, PBT, PVC (chemically and thermally incompatible).
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation: Weld at ~280 °C using PA66-GF or PA66-GF30-MD rods. The material offers very high rigidity and minimal deformation, ideal for structural parts and technical engine covers.
🧠 How to Identify PA6.6-GF30-MD
- Engraved marking: > PA66-GF30-MD <, > ULTRAMID A3WG10MD <, > ZYTEL 70G30-MD <.
- Texture: Matte, very rigid, with visible fibers and fillers.
- ReplastMD practical test: Produces a clear sound when tapped. Clean, hard edges when cut. Flame: burns slowly with a polyamide scent; the mineral leaves a whitish ash residue.
