🧩 ASA+PMMA – Acrylate Styrene Acrylate + Acrylate (PMMA)

(Premium aesthetic material with deep gloss and excellent UV resistance, obtained by combining ASA with PMMA. Ideal for visible exterior parts, mirrors, frames, caps, and decorative automotive components.)

🔹 What is ASA+PMMA

ASA+PMMA is a latest-generation acrylic blend resulting from the combination of ASA (UV resistance and color stability) and PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate — for gloss, hardness, and optical clarity).

The result is a glossy, weather-resistant plastic that resists scratches and solar radiation, highly valued in aesthetic automotive applications. Compared to simple ABS or ASA, ASA+PMMA offers a superior finish, higher hardness, and a color that does not fade over time.

🔧 Composition

  • ASA (Acrylate Styrene Acrylate) – 40–60 %
  • PMMA (Acrylate) – 40–60 %
  • UV Additives / Stabilizers – 1–5 %
  • Density: 1.08–1.12 g/cm³
  • Melting Point: ≈ 240–260 °C
  • UV Resistance: Excellent.
  • Impact Resistance: Good, even at low temperatures.

🔧 Welding Temperature and Methods

MethodOptimal TemperatureObservations

Manual Extrusion230 – 250 °CFor mounts and fine cracks

🔩 What to Weld ASA+PMMA With (Material Compatibility)

Being a 100% acrylic material, ASA+PMMA is compatible with ASA, PMMA, and ABS+PMMA, maintaining good adhesion and a clear finish.

Compatible with:

  • ASA+PMMA ↔ ASA+PMMA / ASA / PMMA / ABS+PMMA – ideal combination.
  • ASA+PMMA ↔ ABS+ASA / ABS+SAN / PC/ABS – good compatibility.
  • ASA+PMMA ↔ PS-HI / HIPS – partially compatible.

Incompatible with:

  • PP, PE, PA, PVC – completely different melting points.

💡 ReplastMD Recommendation:

Use ASA+PMMA or ABS+PMMA rods at a temperature of 260–270 °C. Heat gradually, avoiding overheating which can dull the PMMA layer. After welding, apply a short blast of hot air and fine polish to restore the original gloss.
