🔹 What is ABS/Cycoloy
Cycoloy® is the SABIC trademark for ABS + PC blends, specifically created for high-performance automotive and electrical applications.
It combines the gloss and processability of ABS with the toughness, thermal stability, and impact resistance of polycarbonate (PC). The material offers excellent shock resistance, temperatures up to 120 °C, and dimensional stability, being frequently used in dashboards, consoles, sensor housings, and premium casings.

- ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) – 40–60 %
- PC (Polycarbonate) – 40–60 %
- Additives – UV stabilizers, flame retardants, anti-static agents.
- Density: 1.12–1.20 g/cm³
- Melting Point: ≈ 250–270 °C
- Impact Strength (Charpy): > 20 kJ/m²
- Operating temperature: –40 °C to 115 °C.

🔩 What to Weld ABS/Cycoloy With (Material Compatibility)
Since Cycoloy is an ABS + PC blend, it welds perfectly with materials from the same styrenic-carbonic family.
✅ Compatible with:
- Cycoloy ↔ Cycoloy / PC+ABS / ABS / PC / Bayblend – ideal combination.
- Cycoloy ↔ ABS+PMMA / ASA / SAN – good compatibility.
- Cycoloy ↔ ABS-HI / ABS-FR – partially compatible.
❌ Incompatible with:
- PP, PE, PA, PVC, TPO – completely different melting points.
💡 ReplastMD Recommendation:
Use Cycoloy or ABS+PC rods at a temperature of 270–280 °C. Heat uniformly and avoid concentrating heat (PC can yellow). For visible surfaces, you can smooth the gloss with a brief pass of hot air.
