It’s never too late to learn something new — whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned driver. Here are ten useful tips many people still don’t know. Let’s go!
1. Don’t keep your shovel only in the trunk
A shovel is essential in winter, but if snow blocks the trunk, you won’t be able to reach it. Keep it inside the car instead.
2. Don’t leave your documents in the glove compartment
If your car gets towed, broken into, or stolen, you won’t have proof of ownership. Always carry your documents with you.
3. Don’t react to aggressive drivers
If someone tailgates while you follow the speed limit, remain calm. Let them rush — if you speed, you pay the fine.
4. Dry the door seals after winter washing
Wipe the rubber seals dry. Wet rubber freezes quickly, and doors may stick so tightly you won’t be able to open them.
5. Ventilate the cabin before switching off the engine
Keep the windows open for a minute. Otherwise, moisture stays inside and the windshield will fog up next time.
6. Be careful when overtaking trucks
If a truck blinks its right turn signal without pulling over, the driver is indicating that the road is clear for you to overtake.
7. Always carry extra windshield washer fluid
Especially in bad weather. This saves you from buying questionable fluid from roadside vendors.
8. Avoid speeding through puddles
Puddles may hide potholes, open manholes, or metal debris. Drive slowly even on familiar roads.
9. Keep the lock de-icer warm
It won’t help if it’s stuck inside a frozen car. Carry it in your pocket or bag.
10. Don’t exit the car to check where the fuel tank is
Simply look at the dashboard — there’s a small arrow next to the fuel gauge pointing to the side of the tank.
